Fashion in Film

Rosemary's Baby

Roman Polanski's thriller film Rosemary's Baby was an instant hit when it was premiered in 1968. It's a horror classic thats as fresh and relevant today as when it was released all that time ago. I first saw it a few years ago. i was flicking though the channels early hours of the morning and came across mia farrows face. She was so unbelieveably beautiful and had on the cutest striped shift dress with pigtails in her hair, i had to watch it all the way through. its an extremely intelligent movie and really plays on your psyche. its amazing how polanski managed to twist something so natural as pregnany and maternal instinct into something so gruesome.
And obviously I was keeping an eye on the fashion. babydoll dresses, oversized shifts, cute flats, florals, pinstripes, peter pan collars, made this film more of a guide to 60's fashion..to me anyways. Her bob hair cut at the beginning of the film was as equally as chic as her pixie crop she donned halfway through. So two types of people should go and watch it..those who want a pschological thrill of a woman who thinks shes losing her mind or those of us who want some inspiration on what clothes will go with our chic new bobs :)

  1. I haven't seen the movie but Mia Farrow's wardrobe was amazing and so was her pixie cut! Makes me kinda wish I was around in the '60's :)
